The Problem
As a team, I was allowed to come up with a product/concept for WeTransfer to help creatives with their design process. The only condition WeTransfer wanted was that the product/concept had to be able to be used regularly. On the contrary, use it once and leave it at that. The target group and the problem definition were completely up to us to research and design. Our research showed that designers received little to no feedback from their customers or clients. We chose to tackle this problem and design a concept for it.
The Solution
With this concept 'Note', the designer can upload his or her work and indicate where exactly feedback should be given. Within Note we have designed tools for this, such as a selection frame, a brush which you can use to create free shapes and also a comment tool. This allows the designer to ask for feedback in a more targeted manner so that the client can provide more relevant feedback. When ready, the designer sends the work to the client via a link, just as WeTransfer also works with sending files.
The client opens the link and gains access to the designer's work to provide feedback. When this is also ready, the designer receives a notification that feedback has been received meaning the designer can continue his or her design process
The Result
After a successful sprint of a number of weeks, we came up with our concept 'Note'. Note is designed for creatives who need a smooth feedback moment within their design process. It gives designers the opportunity to request/receive good and relevant feedback from their customers or clients within a few clicks.
During the presentation where we introduced Note to the client, we received positive responses. The client could see that we had built our concept on relevant data from our target group. The client also saw Note fitting within the WeTransfer ecosystem and what they stand for. The client soon also indicated that they were also working on a similar concept. WeTransfer's was a bit more extensive, but happened to be very close to ours. If I'm correct, they call it 'Portal and Review'.
